There's nothing better than venturing around the City looking for new places to add to your rotation. You finally find one, get passed the door guy (or woman) and get that first glimpse inside and think tonight's going to be a good night. Then out of no where like a bad record scratch a bouncer jumps in front of you and directs to to the coat check. You say, "No that's okay" but the bouncer follows up with "No you have to check your coat, it's our policy". You then walk to the window and discover its $5. You then have two thought's go through your mind:
1- In this ever growing cashless world we live in do I have $5 on me or will i have to leave to find an ATM?
2- I have $5 but why the hell do I HAVE to check my coat?
Coat Checks like many things can not only ruin what was to be a great experience but ultimately lead to the loss of future business. If you have a forced coat check it should always be free and if you don't force it then people have the option to pay.
