Listen we get it. You spent Covid lockdowns thinking you're a cycling pro on your Peloton and now you've decided that you can do the same on a Citi Bike. Do everyone a favor and follow these simple steps to avoid getting into accidents with other cyclists, cars and pedestrians.
Know your abilities and don't try to do things you're not capable of
Stay to the right at all times when your on the bike lanes or, god forbid, the street.
Listen we know that cycling with friends is fun but that doesn't mean you can ride side-by-side taking up the whole lane. roll single file and stay to the right.
Do not stop in the middle of the bike lane to for any reason. Move to the right or pull off into an open area
For the love of god, its never a good idea to text or facetime while you're riding. Seriously, its obnoxious and just like texting and driving.... super dangerous
Do not assume pedestrians will stop when they see you. Unlike cars pedestrians don't seem to be afraid of cyclists even though getting hit by one is almost worse in some scenarios.
Lastly, riding a Citi Bike is like a red flag to regular cyclists that you're not a regular cyclist so follow the above and just let them pass
Rant over :-) Now lets get to drinking :-)
